In response to Jesus' loving plea to spend time with him, Holy Cross Parish offers the faithful an opportunity to worship.

Just a note about our Christmas Hamper/Food Program this year…

This year we are trying a different approach with our Christmas giving program.

Our Food Bank patrons will be asked to obtain a hamper from the Christmas Cheer Board. Holy Cross will then hold two Winnipeg Harvest food distributions instead of one so that the last will be on December 23rd. Holy Cross will purchase extra food (i.e. hams, oranges, etc.) that are not part of the Christmas Cheer Board hamper. The Holy Cross Food Bank kitchen volunteers will serve a hot turkey dinner and there will be Christmas music and gifts for the children. We would still involve the schools in collecting food for these two Wednesdays and volunteers if we need them.

Instead of requiring volunteers for packing and driving, Holy Cross Parish may need a few volunteers to serve meals and make the two Food Bank Wednesdays before Christmas extra special for our patrons. In the end, this will be a better use of funds and the patrons will be ahead of previous years as they will still receive a hamper but now will also receive extra food from Holy Cross Parish, one extra Food Bank day and a Food Bank closer to Christmas Day than in the past. We look forward to your support in making this Christmas a fun and prosperous season for our Food Bank patrons.
